Gear pairs
Types of gear pairs:
- Double gear: Two gears with connected teeth; the gears rotate in opposite directions.
- Chain drive: Two gears connected by a chain; both gears rotate in the same direction.
- Bevel gears: Two bevel gears connected at a 90 degree angle; the axis of rotation is altered by 90 degrees.
- Worm and gear: A worm and a gear with connected teeth; the axis of rotation is changed by 90 degrees and the speed is reduced.
Tips for use:
- Move the gears apart to make a longer chain drive or bring them together to shorten the drive. To do this, place the cursor
on one of the gears and and drag it to a new location.
- To move the entire chain drive as one group, drag on the chain.
